Taco Seasoning from scratch

Whenever possible, I prepare my own foods from scratch. In this case, I make my own taco seasoning to avoid the mysterious "natural flavors" and MSG that can sometimes be found on the ingredient list of packaged taco seasoning. This recipe makes enough for six pounds of meat. Store it in a glass Mason jar, and use three tablespoons of mix for each pound of ground meat you cook for tacos.

Taco Seasoning

(enough to season 6 pounds of ground meat)

6 tablespoons chili powder
3 tablespoons ground cumin
2 tablespoons black pepper
2 tablespoons sea salt
1 tablespoon paprika
1½ teaspoons granulated garlic
1½ teaspoons onion powder
1½ teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
1½ teaspoons dried oregano

In a bowl, stir all ingredients together. Place the mixture in a pint-sized Mason jar for storage. For each pound of meat you cook for tacos, use
3 tablespoons of this mixture. First, cook the ground turkey, ground chicken or ground beef all the way through, then sprinkle 3 tablespoons of this mixture on the cooked meat and add 2-4 tablespoons of water; stir to combine.
